South Maluaka Beach, Makena, Maui
South Maluaka Beach in Makena is one of Mieko Photography’s [Favorite] location to do a family portrait session. These are our five (5) reasons.
1. Secluded
It is in front of the resort (currently under constructions.) on the south end of the island. Only one resort in Makena. It is very quiet.
2. Very well maintained
The part of the beach access is taken care by the Makena Resort. There are enough parking lots. The path is paved to the beach. Easy to walk. The beach park has multiple seating areas to act as different backdrops.
3. Greenery
The area is surrounded with a lot of greeneries, tropical plants, and well-manicured lawn space. If you are here for a fun day by the ocean, you can have a good time at the Sandy Beach then cool off or sunbathe by the lawn area until your body gets dry.
4. It’s big!
It is a large beach park. We will be able to find our spot to do the photoshoot even there are other people’s activities going on at the same time.
5. Thanks for the Bathroom
Do not underestimate having a bathroom at the beach. You might have a long drive to come to this location. If you have too many cups of coffee on the way, you will be very happy to see the real bathroom there.
My most favorite time to do portrait session is 1 to 1/2 hour before the sun goes down. The light will shift from Dramatic to soft. Within the 1-hour portrait session, we will have plenty variety of images at this location. This beach is also good to do early morning session.
